Passing of Richard Carroll

Richard Carroll passed away early Saturday morining, October 25, 2008. He will be missed by the Society. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

The arrangements are as follows: visitation Tuesday evening 6 to 8 at Highland Memorial Funeral Home West on Kingston Pike in Knoxville. The funeral service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Highland Memorial Chapel, with interment to follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery on Kingston Pike in the Bearden Area.

John Rice Irwin Chapter Annual Meeting

The John Rice Irwin – Anderson County Chapter of the Sons of the Revolution will hold its 2008 Annual Meeting and Dinner on Tuesday, October 28 at the Museum of Appalachia in Norris, Tennessee beginning at 6:00 p.m.

The speaker will be Cherel B. Henderson, Director of the East Tennessee Historical Society. Her topic will be “Voices of the land — the People of East Tennessee,” based on the new signature exhibition at the East Tennessee Historical Society in Knoxville. She will also talk about the “First Families of Tennessee,” a great resource for researchers.
